Diocesan Annual Appeal

Becoming Church

The appeal is a call for each parish community and each member of the Diocesan Church to become involved in a new and particular way in the mission of the Church. Each baptized member of the church is called to continue the mission of Christ in our world, individually and as a body. As part of the local church, the diocese, we are invited to share in the mission through the annual appeal.

Gifts received by the Appeal are used for the ongoing services and ministries of the Diocese of Prince George. Some of those services and ministries exist to help all of us as individuals to exercise our ministry, and some are direct ministry or service by diocesan staff.

The appeal contributes $400,000 each year to various ministries, parishes and missions throughout the diocese and to the operating budget of the Diocesan Centre. For many years, the diocese relied on outside assistance as well as the proceeds from land sales for its operating needs. With the appeal in place, we are continually reducing our reliance on outside financial help and are able to keep more of our income from land sales in our investment portfolio, thus increasing our income and ensuring financial stability for the future.

It is our hope to be self-sufficient financially in the near future. This will free up the income we received from outside sources for those dioceses in Northern Canada that have much greater need.
