Responses from Green, Liberal, and NDP parties on their position on Independent Schools

On April 8th, 2013 FISA BC sent all independent schools an election package of information that would assist them in engaging with candidates for the May 14th provincial election.  FISA BC had also asked the party leaders to provide a written comment on the following questions about independent schools that would assist families in making informed decisions on their preferred candidate.

The three questions were:

  1. What is your position with respect to the current Independent School Act and its accompanying  Regulations and Orders?  Will your party be proposing amendments and , if so, what will be the content of these amendments?
  2. Does your party support parents’ right to choose an education, public or independent, that is appropriate for their children?
  3. What is your position on the status of funding levels for independent schools?  Will you maintain the current funding formula, or will alternative proposals be made?
