Changes in the Norms for Extraordinary Ministers of Communion

PREVIOUS EDITION of the Norms under the heading –Serving at Mass:

During the “Lamb of God”, the Extraordinary Minister approaches the altar. After the priest himself has received Holy Communion, he distributes both the Body and Blood of Christ to the Extraordinary Minister.

Replaced with the following:

NEW EDITION:

The Extraordinary Minister approaches the altar only after the Priest has received Communion, and they are always to receive from the hands of the Priest Celebrant the vessel containing the species of the Most Holy Eucharist for distribution to the faithful.

Any adapted version of this prayer for public use should be submitted for endorsement to the Office of the Bishop.

Condolences to Brother Greg, OMI

Br. Greg is a religious brother residing at St. Mary’s Parish, Prince George. We would like to extend our condolences to Br. Greg and his family. Mr. Boleslaw Loska, Br. Greg’s father, died in Poland this week. Please pray for Br. Greg and his family and they grieve their loss.

 

Monthly Day of Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Emmanuel Hermitage invites you to a Personal Date with Jesus on January 12, 2016 in the Domano Chapel, 6500 Southridge Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a day of silent prayer and adoration. We will pray for the universal Church and the world, and the people and needs of our Diocese. In particular we will pray for the protection of all human life, for vocations, and for the intentions of those participating in the day. Please mark your calendar on the second Tuesday of each month for Personal Dates with Jesus days.

What does it mean for descendants of residential school staff to reconcile with Canadian history?

To explore this question, graduate student Caroline Crocker is asking Canadians who have parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or other relatives who worked in the Indian Residential School System to participate in a focus group discussion on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
