1.    Development & Peace Typhoon Haiyan Campaign – Canada extends donation period

The Government of Canada has extended the date for matching donations in support of Typhoon Haiyan to December 23, 2013.  Parishes are encouraged to submit donations collected directly to Development and Peace so they are received prior to the new deadline.  If parishes would like to send donations through the diocese please contact Catherine Cosh by email at catherine@pgdiocese.bc.ca by noon on Monday, December 16th.

2.   Monthly Day of Adoration

Please put the following notice in parish bulletins in the Central Region:

Emmanuel Hermitage invites you to a Personal Date with Jesus on December 10 in the Domano Chapel (at the Domano Renewal Centre, 6500 Southridge Ave). Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a day of silent prayer and adoration. We will pray especially for the people and needs of our Diocese, the universal Church, and the world. In particular we will pray for the protection of all human life, for vocations, and for the intentions of those participating in the day. Please mark your calendar on the second Tuesday of each month for Personal Dates with Jesus days.

3.  Rise Up! National Conference

Please put the following notice in parish bulletins:

Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) is a growing national, university movement. Each year, they host a national conference called Rise Up! that attracts hundreds of university students from across Canada. This year CCO will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Two UNBC students from our diocese, Melodie Van der Meer and Alyssa Dugdale, will be attending. They are responsible for raising their entire travel & registration costs. We have raised almost $1000, but still need to raise an additional $1600. If you can help support in any way, or if you are interested in attending yourself, please contact our diocesan youth coordinator, Eunice, at youth@pgdiocese.bc.ca. Donations should be made to Catholic Christian Outreach in order to receive a tax receipt for your support.
